Memories !

We are celebrating Lind'as birthday at Chycara today.

This prompted me to update Facebook.  We now have a Chycara Community Facebook page
which we try and keep updating with events and developments in our small piece of Cornish paraidse.  Having update Facebook I turned my attention to our Blog.  I have been trying, for the last few months,  to remember how to log in and update the Blog.  You probably know that awful sensation when you know that you know something but just cannot rember it.  Well, I finally had that AHA! moment and thought I must post a very quick update.

It is almost shameful to acknowledge that out last posting was in 2012 and here we are half way through 2015. Consequently there is so much to add its almost impossible to know where to start so I just a couple of events of note for now and I can always do a more detailed catch later - now that I can remember how to log on etc!

We actually managed a short holiday abroad in Funchal at the end of February.  First time we have been away for some years.  We had a great time and must remeber to do it again.

We lost the huge Ash tree at the front of the house earlier in the year.  It blew over in the severe winds we experienced at the end of Spring.  Luckily and happily it fell away from the house - much relief all round !  On the up side we now have more light coming into the house and a supply of firewood which should last for some time to come, and finally some greta chunks of wood to make some sort of epic garden furniture or scuplture.

I must be away for now as I have to practice the art of not falling off the ride on mower (much embarrasment the other week)!

As we get in to autumn, we thought it's time to remember a part of our short summer. Here are some azalias in full flower last May. Those of you who stay regularly will recognize all the colour we get in the garden at this time of the year.

Linda said 'paint it to look exciting', so I took her at her word. Looks wonderful in the evening with the floodlighting and it'll be a great landmark for any visitors arriving by helicoptor!

This sensational picture of two roe deer in our top field, was taken by one of our guests, Sheri Iredale. A keen amateur wildlife photographer, we hope she comes back to capture our elusive badger set.

Work Experience Day 4

Hi everyone :)

Day 4 already! Only 1 more more day here at Chycara :(
Today I have been busy working in the office, answering calls, taking bookings and organizing paperwork. David and Linda have taught me many very useful skills that I can use in the future and for everyday life, which I am very grateful for.
I have experienced the beautiful scenery here, and what it is like in a working office environment, best of both worlds!

I am off to tend to the chickens, bye for now!

Work Experience Day 3

Following on from yesterdays event of damson picking, Linda has now made delecious homemade damson jam :)
This will be available to all Chycara house guests!

I am very much enjoying my work experience week here at Chycara. David and Linda are very accommodating and I feel at home even when working. I have developed lots of skills and learnt alot by helping here.

I look forward to the next couple days, maybe I will get to make more jam from the selection of homegrown fruits here!

Goodbye until tommorow!

Work Experience Day 2

Here I am picking damsons in the top field, which has a particularly beautiful scenic view of the surrounding countryside.
We are going to use these damsons to make jam, which you may have a chance to taste!
