Hi everyone :)

Day 4 already! Only 1 more more day here at Chycara :(
Today I have been busy working in the office, answering calls, taking bookings and organizing paperwork. David and Linda have taught me many very useful skills that I can use in the future and for everyday life, which I am very grateful for.
I have experienced the beautiful scenery here, and what it is like in a working office environment, best of both worlds!

I am off to tend to the chickens, bye for now!

Following on from yesterdays event of damson picking, Linda has now made delecious homemade damson jam :)
This will be available to all Chycara house guests!

I am very much enjoying my work experience week here at Chycara. David and Linda are very accommodating and I feel at home even when working. I have developed lots of skills and learnt alot by helping here.

I look forward to the next couple days, maybe I will get to make more jam from the selection of homegrown fruits here!

Here I am picking damsons in the top field, which has a particularly beautiful scenic view of the surrounding countryside.

My Name is Hanae, I am currently working with David and Linda here at Chycara.

During my stay I will be doing a daily update on the Chycara blog.

My first day has been very enjoyable and I look forward to the next few days. I have being learning about the running of Chycara with the help of David and Linda who have very lovely to me.

Solar Thermal

The pool house being fitted with solar thermal panels by Mick Bown and overseen by Malcolm Norman of Ariston.

The completed work and initial results look very promising, although it's going to be tricky to keep the pool to 32* in winter without some help from the boiler.

Vegetable Plot

Linda gets nearer to her new vegetable plot and some home grown produce for this summer. The move has taken place to improve the view from the garden lodge.

Massage & Beauty

As the pool extension nears completion we're delighted to announce that Chycara will be hosting the Moontree Massage & Beauty Clinic. It's run by 3 qualified therapists, Angi, Nikki & Alex who all specialize in different fields. Together they cover massage, aromatherapy, manicures and even treatment for sports injuries. Angi produces natural products such as soaps, lip balms, hand creams and bath blends, all of which are paraben free. They will be holding pamper days for a special treat, that will include lunch and use of the swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. There'll be more information on the Chycara website soon.

Oat Biscuit

Many of you who've tasted Linda's homemade biscuits have asked for the recipe and so here it is.

PAGE OAT BISCUITS

Ingredients:

100g. Self Raising Flour 75g. Rolled Oats
25g. Coconut
100g. Sugar
100g. Margerine
¼ teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda
1 tablespoon Golden Syrup
1 tablespoon Water

1. In a mixing bowl, mix the flour, oats, coconut, sugar and bicarbonate of soda.
2. Melt the margarine, syrup and water and pour onto dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
3. Divide mixture into 20, roll into balls and place on two greased
baking sheets.
4. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 180c.

Chycara is playing host to Waterbabies & Swim Academy. The pool has to be heated to 32 degrees, so for those of you who like your water warm, now is the time to visit us!
